There were a lot of things wrong with Suicide Squad. But one was so slight we didn’t even notice.
A visual effects reel for the Oscar-winning film (srsly, are we sure Moonlight didn’t really win that one??) was released this week, and mostly it wasn’t at all noteworthy. They recorded a plate of a real environment, drew cartoons on it, and then added tons of extra smoke and darkness to hide the mediocre CGI because this ain’t your daddy’s comic book movie.
But one effect really stood out to viewers — and not in a good way.
It turns out in addition to adding all the magical hoo-ha around Cara Delevingne, they also DIGITALLY SHRUNK HER WAIST!

Digital editing. Even better for losing weight than the flu.
You can see it even better in this GIF someone put on Reddit:
We’re not sure what about being an ancient, magical sorceress requires the Enchantress to be thinner than a supermodel, but there it is.
Hollywood! For the last time, women’s bodies are not a problem to be fixed in the damn editing room!
Of course, this still doesn’t explain why they relegated her character to dancing in front of a blue tower of light the entire movie instead of having a character arc when she could have had a magical Jekyll and Hyde thing going. Or why they made someone so powerful and evil part of the government black ops team in the first place! Or why…
Dang it, this made us start thinking about stupid Suicide Squad again!
